It starts with the seed
Good oil can only come from good seeds. We choose whole, mature Nigella sativa seeds from growers we know, and check every batch for size, colour and aroma before it's accepted. Seeds that don't meet our standard don't make it to the press.
- Whole seeds, never pre-ground, so they stay fresh until pressing.
- Cleaned and sorted to remove dust, husks and stray material.
- Pressed in small batches so each one gets full attention.
Slow, cool pressing
Cold-pressing means the seeds are pressed mechanically at low temperatures, without added heat or chemical solvents. It's slower and yields less oil than other methods — but it preserves the oil's natural colour, aroma and full, peppery flavour.
Resting, testing and bottling
Freshly pressed oil is left to settle so fine particles can sink naturally, then gently filtered. Every batch is tested for quality and purity before it's sealed in amber glass, which shields the oil from light so it stays fresh for longer.
“We'd rather press less and press it well. That's the whole idea behind Wellnio.”
